Akane sank down gratefully into the heat of the bath that had been set for her. Even having come home in clean clothes, she still felt the blood that had remained on her, and it became a sickening reminder of what had transpired that morning. Had it been only a few hours ago? The day had seemed to stretch on forever. She thought about that morning as she could remember it, and sank down further into the water to shake the chill that threatened to take hold of her.

"What was that thing?" She closed her eyes and tried to picture it more clearly in her mind. She still wasn't convinced she had seen what she had. She really wasn't sure of anything right now. Then it had gone to attack her. She almost felt stupid trying to remember it. I was really lucky that thing exploded like that when it did.

It had been as if her body had shut down, and all she could do was dumbly throw her hands in front of her to protect herself. It certainly wasn't her controlling her body at that time. She knew better. It would have been easy enough to just roll out of the way. Her kenpo training had taught her enough about how to dodge an attack.

The bright blue light that had killed the creature had been from a ki attack. She was almost sure of it. Ranma claimed it hadn't been him. But then, she knew that. She was used to seeing his aura and ki atacks. Even his aura had that air of self-confidence bordering on egotism. This one had been fierce, almost desperate.

Akane felt her eyelids slide their way slowly sleep looming heavily over her. Her eyes shot open in a fight. She stood and shook her head, damp hair whipping water across her face and throwing drops in the pool of water she stood in.

I've got to stop. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. She climbed out of the tub, and quickly grabbed a towel to wrap around herself.

Then she screamed.

Ranma's head pivoted at the horrified wail, jolting him out of his brooding practice. Without a second thought, he ran out of the dojo and bounded up the side of the house to the second floor, and pounced into the bathroom where she was supposed to have been. The steam escaped out the window, and exposed an empty interior. The doors leading to the hallway had also been left open, and the hot water vapor escaped from these openings as well like angry ghosts.

"Shit, she's not here. Akane!" He ran out to the hall, practically crashing into the rest of the family that had run up conventionally to investigate.

"HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLP!!!" Ranma, Soun, and Genma burst into her bedroom, finding Akane curled up in the corner, wooden bokken the only thing coming between her and--

Ranma rushed forward and threw all his weight into his punch at the creature reaching towards Akane. It sped forward with his weight and fell at the wall, striking it with a nauseating squish. It regained itself and struck out again. Akane was now standing, clutching her towel with one hand and bokken in her right. She swung out again at the thing, this time striking it away from her. Soun followed its mad rush to the floor, trying to hold it down. Not to be outdone, the creature lashed out all its myriad tentacles, and wrapped itself firmly around his head, totally engulfing him. All that could be heard from him was a muffled cry, Ranma and Genma now focusing their attention on trying to pry it off. The creature tightened, and Soun's chest struggled wildly to get air. Suddenly a thin line of blue light formed between the three struggling men, and a large blue object came crashing down upon Soun. It punched a small dark blue metal fist into the creature, uncaring of the man beneath it, projecting an explosion of metallic fire. The creature hissed, and in another explosion of blood, fell to the floor in a heap and lay still. Soun was sprawled flat on the floor as well, but his heaving chest and the occasional twitch spoke of his continued life. Everyone stepped back defensively as the new arrival stood.

It was all of four feet tall, a small robot colored in a light sky blue, hands a darker blue as if wearing gloves. Two panels, folded like insect wings on its back, seemed to hint at flight capabilities, and the two large, thick antennae that protruded from either side of its head only added to this effect.

It stood over the death still carcass of the creature, opened its hand, palm facing the floor, and sent a triangular laser light to surround the carnage. The remains disintegrated into ash and even that disappeared as the light dissipated. The others, gaining their composure, circled around it, making sure to be ready in case of another assault. Instead, it paused and seemed to judge them with large round glass blue eyes. It blinked, and clasping its hands together in front of it, bowed deeply at the waist towards the three men. Then, raising up again, it... smiled.

"HI!" A high, musical, child-like sound greeted all of them, hands now behind its back, balancing on its heels. It seemed now every bit the child it sounded, so different from what it had just done before. "Sorry about your friend," It bent slightly over to peer at Soun, who, still twitching, was now being administered to by his two older daughters. "That was only a small one. He'll be alright. "But somebody's missing..." It looked around the room, trying to find the object of its search. Ranma stepped back reflexively to block Akane who still stood in the corner. He did not even have the slightest idea as to how to approach this matter. Kasumi and Nabiki now helped their stricken father to his feet, who at the moment, although dirtied with blood, seemed unharmed.

"I don't get it, she was just here….AAAKAAAANNNEEEE!" With a chipper laugh, it jumped towards the girl, but found itself stopped dead in its tracks, and hanging limply only a short distance from its target.

"What do you think you're doin'?" Ranma lifted his squirming burden and looked it up and down disgustedly. Great, just what I need, another perverted psycho after Akane. The little robot just looked back at him, not afraid, but... tolerant?

"Hey! Who are you?" Akane's mind whirled. She blinked and walked over next to Ranma to face her aggressor. Although, aggressive was the last thing it seemed to be. The thought crossed her mind that she might still be dreaming. Maybe she had indeed fallen asleep in the warmth of the water in the tub. She gasped as a feeling of panic ripped through her, clenching every muscle in her body. It became an angry pain that swept through her, assuring her that this was all too real. The little robot jumped away from Ranma and Akane as he felt the grip on him loosen. Akane's bokken was dropped ungracefully to the floor, and her two arms wrapped themselves around her, her eyes clenching as they closed.

"You're late!" It said, chastising. "You're supposed to warn her before anything happens, not after. HEY!" Ranma vengefully pushed the smaller presence to the side and stood closely in front of Akane.

"Ranma, wait. It's all right." The sound of Akane's now calm voice, combined with a light hand to steady herself on his shoulder, caused him to jump. He continued to watch his fiancee, and with a pained look on her face, guided him to the side away from her, and looked down to the newcomer. "Who are you?" And why do I get this feeling of deja vu? She felt a pressure against her shoulder, and realizing the warmth next to her was Ranma, took advantage and leaned into him for support.

"It's the Iczerio. It tries to help you, so you know when trouble's coming. But sometimes it's a little slow." It smiled wickedly. Suddenly it's body when rigid with a thump that even Akane felt. She gasped as if the feeling had physically hit her, but took comfort in the hand that held her from the back. "Hey! Enough already! You made your point! She can feel it too you know." Then it stepped towards her, appraising the situation in a new light. "There're more out there, aren't there." It said this softly, seriousness sobering its child-like quality.

The feeling dissipated, leaving robot and girl to their own devices. Akane looked over to a still very angry Ranma, and decided against mentioning his hand. It made her feel safer, anyway. She turned back to face the robot, but was stopped short by the vision of her father standing with the help of Nabiki and Kasumi.

"Daddy--!"

"Is fine." Nabiki finished with a weary sigh. This was getting too bizarre, even for her. She had gotten used to a lot since Ranma and his father had brought themselves and all their twisted karma to the Tendo household. Kasumi smiled at all of them as if all the commotion in the past few minutes had been inconsequential.

"Nabiki and I will take him to get cleaned up. You probably want some time with you friend. Welcome!" Kasumi smiled even more (if that was possible) and bowed her head at the robot, who bowed deeply again back at her. The trio left with Genma in tow. He turned to give Ranma a wink and a wry smile.

"Have fun, son." He giggled evilly on his way out. Ranma stood perplexed, then felt his face drain of blood frightfully as the surroundings locked into his mind. His head turned slowly to his fiancee to confirm his fears. Akane watched him curiously, then realized horrified what his father had meant. And what Ranma was staring at, with a look in his eyes as if he had gone blind. She looked down at herself and at the small towel that covered her, and only covering what was necessary at that.

"I-- I-- I--" Ranma drew back his hand from her back as if stung, blushing furiously and blubbering incoherently, stumbling over every possible object in her room on his way to the door. He turned and bolted in a clumsy flash and slammed the door behind him. Akane felt her face flush. The towel was all she had donned the entire time. In front of everybody. In front of him. And he had been touching her.

"Hmph. Pervert." She muttered, trying to raise her level of dignity from its current level of mortal embarrassment, then ran to her bed to grab clean clothes.

"I wasn't the one who said it stupid! And who'd want to be with you, you waistless, chestless, macho jerk!" Ranma retorted through the closed door, making no attempt, however, to leave its vicinity.

"What-- did-- you-- say?" The door flung open to an enraged Akane, flaring in a blinding blue battle aura, clutching her towel defensively, the other hand wielding a large dumbbell.

Ranma always took his hits well.

The dull chrome met Ranma's face with a heavy sounding crack, sending him over the banister to land, with multiple thumps, at the foot of the stairs.

"Owwww…" Was all Akane heard as she slammed the door shut again.

"He may not have said it, but he certainly stared hard enough." She grumbled under her breath, each word scathing and returned to her clothes.

"Wow, that must've really hurt." The little blue robot now stood over the still downed Ranma, leaning over to stare at him.

"Shut up."

"Does she always do that to you?" It stood back up straight as Ranma righted himself. Ranma groaned in pain and frustration as he ran a hand over his face. "Or is courtship among humans always that violent?"

"WHAT?!?!?!" Ranma's pain was instantly forgotten.

"Well, you do like her," It responded soberly.

"How could anybody like some SEXLESS, VIOLENT TOMBOY LIKE THAT?!" He jumped to his feet, emphasizing his words for a specific set of ears.

"Pervert! Jerk! Idiot!" Down came the muffled response through a closed door. Ranma smiled smugly. Direct hit. The quiet voice next to him ripped him out of his victory reverie.

"But you fought for her. You had no chance against the bedem at the school. It would have killed you after it finished with her. But you tried anyway." It's look betrayed its confusion. Ranma blanched and looked away.

"Well, yeah, of course, but--" He fidgeted, trying to find an appropriate response. There was always one. He just had to think of it. Images flooded him from that morning, and he started to feel sick again. Gods, it had almost gotten her. The recollection of his failure sent a lump into the pit of his stomach. Then a realization hit him. "That was you there, who helped. I knew that thing couldn't have exploded on its own."

"Nope." The response gave Ranma a start.

"But you knew about it. You had to be there."

"I got there almost too late." It looked at the floor guiltily.

Ranma wondered if it was feeling the same way he did. He doubted it. The lump that had been coal before was iron now. An iron spike that tore at him from the inside. The more he thought about it, the more it tore. But despite all the pain, he just kept replaying the scene over and over. He shook his head to dispel the memory and focus on the moment. She was still okay.

"She got it just in time though. Thankfully." It smiled widely now, full of-- pride? Now Ranma was really confused. Was there another one of these things running around?

"Then who did?" The question came out slowly. He wasn't sure he really wanted an answer.

"AAAAKAAAANNNEEE!" It squealed in delight and jumped again at the girl now descending the staircase, dressed in a red sweater and pale blue skirt. She giggled as it wrapped itself around her in a hug, even though it had almost knocked her over in the process.

She would take to anything smaller than she was. Sissy. Ranma grunted bitterly as she scowled back at him in passing.

At least she was okay.

"You're her what?!?!" Everyone stared at it in stunned shock.

"She's my partner. An Iczel never fights on its own, so I need a partner. Akane's my partner." They continued to stare. "Oh! I never introduced myself! So sorry!" It bowed deeply, and smiled. "I am Iczel Blue."

The group of five continued their gaping, turning repeatedly from Akane to her 'guest'.

"What exactly do you mean by 'partner'?" Nabiki leaned in close over the table, eyes showing an evil glint. However, unlike most times, there was no trace of amusement on her face.

"Well, I, um," Akane broke in, still unsure of where to begin. She had heard the story already, and was even more doubtful that her family would believe a story she wasn't even sure she believed herself. It read like a comic book for crying out loud! "Let see... For starters, Iczel Blue is not from our planet. Actually, he's not from any planet. His people, the Cu-thu-wulf," the word came out awkwardly, more a question than a statement, and Akane looked to Iczel Blue for confirmation. The Iczel smiled and nodded, so satisfied, she continued, "They travel around on this ship trying to find a home to live on. But there's this really big computer called Big Gold who took over their ship and tried to destroy another Earth so they could take over. But one of their fighters turned renegade and fought against Big Gold and won. But the computer wasn't destroyed, and she had daughters who escaped, and now they think it's headed here to try again.

"And Big Sis Iczer Liros was supposed to be here too, but she had to stay behind so they could finish fixing Iczer Robo. She's as young as I am, but she's a lot better. But then, she is an Iczer. She's Akane's real partner, but she sent me to teach Akane until she can get here..." Iczel Blue chattered on excitedly, throwing out names and places nobody could even begin to recognize.

"Ic-- zer-- Liros?" That had been the first mention of that name for her, but it stuck with her like a cloudy memory. Akane's voice quieted the little Iczel immediately. It swiveled frantically to answer her.

"You remember! I was worried that you wouldn't remember anything after the Link was broken like that in subspace, but Sis knew. She won't admit it, but she has a lot of faith in you. That's why she chose you."

"That's right. The dream... I barely remember it anymore." Akane still spoke as if in a trance, fighting to remember details that still eluded her. It seemed like so long ago.

"That's okay. You'll remember."

"And all this had what to do with my daughter?" Soun cocked his head, eyes narrowing in suspicion.

"They need me to fight. Iczel Blue says I'm the only one who can. So did that other girl in my dream." Akane suddenly covered her mouth with both hands in shocked realization.

"That's why those things were after me this morning." Her voice came out as a muffled gasp past her fingers, trying to quell the memory of the fear she felt.

"WHAT?! That THING nearly killed us this morning!" Ranma jumped up from his seated position next to Iczel Blue, his arms stretched out by his sides stiffly in determination. "I wasn't even fast enough to catch it! If it hadn't just blown up on its own, or whatever, I don't even wanna think about what might 'a happened!" Akane could only stare open-mouthed at the outburst, but then, everyone else was just as stunned. He was practically jumping over the robot to yell at her, and more than likely throttle her if the Iczel had not stepped back to block his access to her.

"I know that! But she reacted in time, and that's what counts!" Iczel Blue now stood behind Akane to emphasize his point.

Ranma's face dropped, slack jawed. "What?"

"She can tap Iczerio. I don't know how, or why, but she managed to kill the bedem before it got to anyone." Iczel Blue paused at the empty silence surrounding it. The problem quickly made itself clear. "Iczerio is what gave birth to all the Cthuwulf. It's an energy source which exists throughout all the universe, but mostly in subspace-- different dimensions. Akane has found a way to use it; all she has to do now is learn to use it when she wants. Iczer Liros will need to synchronize with her in the big fight against Big Gold, but she can be an Iczelion with me in the meantime and after Big Gold is destroyed just in case there are other bedem or Voids around. Iczel Blue straightened with pride as it looked at Akane.

Akane meanwhile heard this with dulled senses. So much had happened. Was happening. There was way too much information here. Had she really killed that creature herself? She couldn't imagine how that was possible. Everyone was just sitting there. Staring at her. Everything depended on her. She felt tired. She could remember not too long ago when it felt like she was depending on everyone else to save her. Now she was the hope of saving her planet? She closed her eyes in thought, blocking out the mad confusion of conversations and side-discussions that exploded out of nowhere, assailing her from all directions. She listened to the sound of her own breathing, steadying herself to the rhythm of her heartbeat. She wished she were in the dojo. She could think more clearly there. Practicing katas were always more relaxing in dealing with major problems, especially when her family became involved.

"I'll do it." Time stopped, six faces now frozen on the words of a decision made. She turned to face the little Iczel behind her. "Iczel Blue, I'll do what I can to help. I'm a martial artist. I couldn't accept doing anything less than everything I can to help keep peace. Anywhere. I only hope I won't dissapoint you." She had her fist raised in defiance of any doubts she had before. She could do this. This stranger, a robot of all things, something-- someone-- she had never met before, had total and utter faith in her. She returned the relieved smile that faced her.

"Listen," Ranma was now back on his knees in the traditional seated position, scratching his brow pensively, looking sideways to Iczel Blue who stood just beyond Akane. "We all know Akane's a gorilla..."

"What did you say?!" Akane's neck almost hurt from turning so quickly to look at Ranma. A very soon to be dead Ranma.

"I have no doubt that she could bash anything that got in your way, but there's no way a slow chick like her can handle-- OOF" The mallet swung down hard, leaving only a crumpled pile where a boy named Ranma used to sit.

"Like that you mean?" Akane's chilly smile spoke of the triumph in her voice. "Listen Mr. Jealous. It's not my fault no one's knocking on your door to save the world. Get used to it. Jerk." She extracted the mallet and it disappeared back into its dimensional pocket.

"See?! I told she could! Just like I said!" Iczel Blue jumped up and down in giddy excitement, clapping. Akane paused and considered the statement. She vaguely started to remember how that woman-- Iczer Liros(?)-- had drawn her own weapon in her dream. Was that really the same thing?

"Nice shot." Read a sign from Genma.

"Oh my, Akane, you must be so proud." Kasumi was beaming. Akane felt a waive of relief come over her. At least somebody appreciated this. She looked to her other sister who only shrugged and sat back, wearing an expression suggesting the weighing of options larger than those openly presented. And now her father was crying. Again.

"Oh, my little girl has grown up! She's a true martial artist now! WAAAHHH! My little girl is going off to die!" Tears streamed down his face in the middle of heaving sobs, hands clenched tightly on his long black hair. He allowed himself to be comforted by the two elder daughters.

"Nobody's dying, Daddy." Nabiki patter her father on the shoulder, but turned to spare a glance at Akane. "Nobody is going to die."

Iczel Blue backed away suddenly from the table, feeling very confused at the chaos surrounding him. It had gotten late. Very late.

"Akane, you should rest now. Big Sis will come soon, and tomorrow we can start training. I need to go back to subspace and recharge. I've been out a lot longer than I should have been. But don't worry, if anything happens, this time I'll be a lot quicker." Iczel Blue put both hands on her shoulders, and smiled largely. Akane smiled, stifling a yawn. It was getting late. The exhaustion of the day started to creep in. With that, Iczel Blue turned to his hosts and bowed deeply again. It disappeared, a crackle of green light the only evidence that someone had been there. Akane turned to her messy semblance of a family and sighed. Ranma still lay twitching and unconscious on the floor, and the rest of her family was attempting to calm her father. She sighed in resignation. She might be able to save the world, but there was nothing that she could do here.

"I'm going to bed. Goodnight."

Her bright gold light pulsed with the energy of her growth. Every minute, her daughters were returning to her. From every corner of the universe, her daughters would come, merging, completing the whole that had not been so for too long. But not anymore. Soon, she would be more powerful than she had been the first time. There would be no mistakes this time. No underestimating. No waiting once it had begun. This time, Earth would quake with the destruction of those insect humans. Revenge would be so sweet. Soon.

Soon.

Inside, she smiled.

Kick. Punch. Turn. Sweep. Punch. Kick. That poor stick had seen more beatings just sitting in front of the dojo than had most of his enemies. Combined. It would have to be replaced soon. The post creaked under the constant pressure from all sides as Ranma tried to concentrate on the each movement. Punch. Punch. Kick. Sweep.

"I'll do it."

That's what she had said. He still couldn't quite fathom the conversation that evening. She was bullheaded, sure, but risking you life just to prove your abilities was stupid. Okay, maybe not the right way to put that. But when he had to do it, that was different. There was no real risk for him. He had not met a challenge that he wasn't up to facing, if not winning hands down. No matter how tough the competition. He always had a trick up his sleeve to win in the end. And anyway, this was just too dangerous. This was suicide. He had to think. Kick. Punch. Punch. Kic--

"Ranma." He froze at the sound of his name, foot posed inches away from the practice post. He lowered his foot, and turned on it to meet the middle Tendo daughter.

"What's up?" He wiped his brow with the sleeve of his shirt and stepped closer.

"You can't let her go through with this. I won't let it. I don't care who this Iczer person is, or what that little walking blender thinks it can get away with. I certainly don't care what connection they have with Akane, but I am not going to see her run off to get killed in some war that has nothing to do with us." Nabiki poked an accusatory finger into his chest. He slinked backwards under the murderous look in her eyes. She was a good several inches shorter than he was, but she always managed to tower over him when she needed to.

"I know that!" You think I haven't been thinking about that? But you know her! That idiot gets an idea in her head and she's as bad as those cinder block she whacks away at! What the hell am I supposed to do?"

He is worried. Good. Nabiki lowered her hand, and placed both akimbo on her hips. Ranma paused, nervous.

Oh man. She's got that look again. He backed away skittishly.

"Easy," She cooed, like a trainer talking to a wild horse that needed to learn the bridle. "You're not going to let her. Normally I wouldn't care how you did it. You could kidnap her, tie her up in the dojo, drug her whatever. But she seems to have a way of escaping those things." She wanted to laugh at that. Usually that way was Ranma. But she knew fate had a way of finding a different route if it needed to. Something would end up happening to work for her. But not against something that would end up happening anyway. "I will not have her killing herself. There is no way she can handle this. You can take her place maybe, if they need someone that bad. You at least, have a chance."

Ranma was open to any suggestions Nabiki would have. If it cost him some embarassment, well, it would be worth it to him. "How--?"

"I'm glad my own family has no faith in my abilities."

"Akane!" Ranma and Nabiki turned quickly to face the scowling girl, who seemed hidden from all view in the dark of night, but to Ranma's trained eye, was lit up like a Christmas tree with a bright blue battle aura. Damn. Busted. Both knew well that plotting like this would not be taken well.

"You I figured Ranma. You're used to being the 'Number One' guy in everything." Akane spat out with a look of burning disgust at her withering fiancee.

"That's not--" He only shrunk back further at her glare that dared him to speak even one more word.

"But you, Nabiki. I figured at least my own family would understand. Whether you guys like it or not, I am a martial artist." She spared Ranma a venomous glance. He just wanted to crawl under the dojo and hide. Instead he used Nabiki as a human shield. "That means I accept any request for help to keep peace."

Nabiki wanted to physically beat on Ranma. Could this family please have a man with a backbone? Was it possible for that dummy to deny her anything? That frustration gave her enough courage to face her sister's frightening, quiet wrath.

"But Akane, listen to reason... Leave it to someone we can afford to use. And Ranma--" Ranma looked guardedly over at Nabiki. He wasn't sure whether the comment was a compliment or insult, but with a mental shrug, decided it didn't matter.

"Weren't you two listening?! Iczel Blue said I was the only one who could help! Why do I get the feeling that helping Iczel Blue fight these things isn't the only battle I'll be fighting around here?" With a disgusted guttural moan that bordered on a scream, she walked past the pair towards the house, stopping only to face Ranma. She stood for a second just staring at him in silence. A hurt look flashed over her features as she watched him, and for the second it lasted, it turned almost to a plea. But it was gone in the same instant. A brick wall was the only feature she held. Ranma just wanted to run and hide from the stares he had been getting from her. That one look, the hurt that always showed when she was ready to fight tears, killed him. There was no running from that. He knew he was as trapped as an animal in a cage. There was no running even when the cage door was wide open.

"If you even THINK about coming near me, even with the thought of trying anything to keep me from my duty," her voice dropped to a dangerous, low quality, but she didn't look at either of them "I will never forgive you. Never." She stalked off, the pair left to stare after her in silence. After she was definitely gone, and the shoji slid firmly shut behind her, Nabiki looked to Ranma once more.

"Maybe after she cools down she'll realize this is a mistake."

Ranma just shook his head, trying to get his mouth to work to form words. "Akane..."

Nabiki only sighed and lowered her head in agreement. "I didn't think so either."

Akane lay on her back on her bed, staring at the wood-paneled ceiling, her vision blurry with tears. She gripped the cover around her tighter, pulling it up to her chin. Her heart shriveled in her chest at the replay of Ranma and Nabiki talking in her mind. She had gone to the dojo intending to escape, to think, but had instead heard their exchange. As much as Nabiki's words had stung, Ranma's faithlessness had left an open, painful wound. She did not seek his approval, not in anything, and certainly not in matters of fighting, but for some reason, his words had been a betrayal. But then, why should he think her capable of fighting? Whenever she was in trouble, all she had to do was call his name, and he was always there to rescue her. That was how it had always been. Always?

She vaguely tried to remember a time when he had not been there, and she was left to handle things on her own. It had only been a little over a year and a half ago, yet it seemed he had always been there. Had she grown that dependent on him?

This time, she assured herself, would be different.

"You're ability is the strongest I have seen... All you need to do is learn to harness it!"

I'll show them. I can do this. Those things won't even know what hit them. And I am not afraid. I am definitely not afraid. She still shivered though when she thought of the two attacks. The thing-- bedems, Iczel Blue had called them-- that had attacked her at school. That had caught her off-guard, but apparently she herself had destroyed that one. And she had done a little better during the attack at home. She allowed the thought to give her an emotional boost.

"All you know and love may be lost..."

Thoughts of her friends, her family, even Ranma, drifted through her mind. Her father in shock after the attack. Were there other people who hadn't been so lucky? What happened to them? If she hadn't decided to fight, then who would? Nabiki had called it a war that had nothing to do with them. But didn't it? If the planet was taken, then what happened to them?

She had no clue who these Iczers were, what the Cthuwulf were like, or even who this Big Gold was. She could only go on what Iczel Blue had described to her, what Iczer Liros had told her in the dream. But both had promised to protect her, to train her. And Iczel Blue had saved her father. Akane just didn't have the feeling that either had meant her any harm. So why was she the only one that understood that?

The confusion in her mind melted to numbness, that numbness to sleep, the sleep to chaotic dreams of stars, monsters, giant robots, and a bright golden light that threatened to swallow the world.
